Cromane GAA Bord Na nOg 2007 AGM

Sunday 21 st October 2007

Cromane Community Center

Cromane U-8’s: Sunday mornings at the ground are as busy as ever with many boys and girls from as young as four learning the skills of Gaelic football under the watchful eyes of parents and mentors alike. The U-8’s worked hard all year and played many challenge games and were competitive in all the games. We used the SAQ tools within training for some variety and on the whole all the kids enjoyed them.

Cromane U-10’s: There was in general a good turnout on Sunday mornings for training. All the boys and girls worked hard over the course of the year and in most the challenge games they played, were very competitive and showed good levels of skill and competitive team spirit. The U10 ‘A’ team reached the Mid-Kerry blitz final but unfortunately lost to Beaufort. The ‘B’ team was very competitive in their competition and narrowly missed out on a final.

The Cromane/Listry U-12’s: This team competed well in the county league in both phases one and two - there was no more than a few scores in all but one of the games lost. The team was runner-up in the Mid-Kerry ‘A’ competition and winner in the Mid-Kerry ‘B’ competition. One of the disappointing aspects of the U-12 season was the limited amount of game time received by a number of players and this is an item that attracted frequent comment. This AGM will consider the status of the combined Cromane/Listry structure and to what extent it serves the interests of all our players going forward. A summary of the number of registered players in the club is presented later in this report in order to facilitate this discussion.

The Cromane/Listry U-14’s: This team was unlucky not to reach the knockout stages of the county championship, was runner-up in the Mid-Kerry ‘A’ competition and winner in the Mid-Kerry ‘B’ competition.

The Cromane/Listry U-16’s: The team contested the county championships well. They finished 3 rd in the group but unfortunately was not enough to take them into the play off rounds. The team also reached the Mid-Kerry ‘B’ final but unfortunately lost to Milltown/Castlemaine.

Coaching Courses: Earlier in the year, fundamental coaching courses look place in Listry. We had 5 people attend including Sean O Sullivan. There were plenty of handouts and practice drills and gave everyone a good foundation in providing the right training skills for underage players.

Parish League: The end of the season culminated in the parish league which consisted of all players from class 1 to class 6. Each game was hard fought and competitive. The ‘A’ final resulted in a draw and it was decided that the trophy should be shared. We thank Sean and Donnchadh for being thrown in the deep end to referee a couple of games and being available for handing out the medals and trophies.
